Eric Chant - whom everybody calls Cat - is helplessly caged in his sister's ideas. They are both the orphaned children of magicaly gifted people, but only Gwendolyn seems to have that talent.

And Cat never doubted his elder sister until they are invited to live at Chrestomanci Castle and Gwendolyn lets loose all sorts of horrors, just to get the attention of the master of the castle.

But when Gwendolyn dissappeares suddenly and Cat can't pay the slimy Mr Baslam, things get critical.


Greeaat book. Maybe a little strange on the first read, but it definitely lets it's magic and charm show once one reads it again.

Which is, by the way, fantastic.
